For the AT (automatic transmission) Jimny, however, the plug is located directly on the automatic gearbox, so there is a high risk of water entering the automatic gearbox when it is submerged in water. The automatic gearbox is a delicate piece of machinery and may be damaged in the worst case if water gets mixed into it.
To overcome these issues, we recommend this breather extension kit which acts similar to snorkels. This product includes an 80cm silicone hose, and the valves can be relocated above Jimny's floor level, such as the top of the engine bay (just under the bonnet). It allows the automatic gearbox to breathe with changes in temperature and atmospheric conditions even if the automatic gearbox is submerged in water. They are ideal products for off-roading where the automatic gearbox is submerged in water.
