One of the most common problems for Jimny is "wheel judder" which occurs when the tire and wheel shake and the steering wheel rattles while driving at 40-60 km/h. This product, made by KUDO-JIDOSHA, is the most sold judder stop kit for Jimny in Japan. There are several ways to prevent judder, but if you use the steering damper alone to resolve it, the steering wheel will hold better but the tires will still be juddering. If you tighten it up with kingpin shims alone, the kingpin bearings and hoses might break.
This Kit includes knuckle rings & seals, kingpin shims, and judder stop nuts in the set. The nuts are special nylon insert lock nuts to prevent steering judder by tightening the tie rod end parts tighter than the original nuts. It is also an effective preventive measure. This product is compatible with all Jimny models from original to lifted cars.
The following things are also effective countermeasures. When installing this product, they are recommended as well.
1. Check the tire conditions, tire air pressure, and wheel balance.
2. Check the Panhard rod. If an economy suspension kit has been installed on your Jimny, the quality of the front Panhard rod may not be good enough. It may be bent or bushes may have deteriorated. In that case, we recommend changing it to a trusted product such as one made by TANIGUCHI or SHOWA GARAGE.
3. Tighten both ends of the front Panhard rod fixing bolts with appropriate tightening torque (90Nm).
4. Overhaul and adjust the kingpins.
5. Adjust the wheel alignment.
6. Check the steering rod (especially steering gear box and rod ends).
7. Install the steering damper.
* This product is not compatible with JB32, JA22, or 12. However, we advise changing knuckle ring & seal, felt pads, and kingpin shims into new ones for JB32, JA22, and 12, in addition to the above, based on our experience.
* The steering will be a little heavier after installing this product.
