SUZUKI's former CEO, Mr. Suzuki Osamu, passed away the other day. We would like to express our deepest condolences. Not only did he grow SUZUKI from a small Japanese automobile company into a global corporation, but he was also loved by many for his friendly personality.
It is no exaggeration to say that he created the Jimny. More than 50 years ago, Hope Motor Company had introduced a small off-road vehicle called the HopeStar ON360, but the vehicle barely sold and was discontinued. However, as the director of SUZUKI, he overcame strong opposition from within the company and bought the sales rights for this car. He made some improvements and sold it as the Jimny in 1970. This is the first generation SUZUKI Jimny LJ10. We don't think there is any need to go into the details of the vehicle's subsequent success around the world.
We are grateful for his accomplishments and look forward to continuing to love and enjoy this little off-road vehicle. Thank you Suzuki Osamu-san. Rest in peace.
